The vehicle flew successfully--the real test is how well the engine matched
predictions and did it produce thrust. It will probably take some time to reduce the data. Ken G. "Scott Lowther" wrote in message ... Apparently successfully. -- Scott Lowther, Engineer Remove the obvious (capitalized) anti-spam gibberish from the reply-to e-mail address |

made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a way as to indicate that: The vehicle flew successfully--the real test is how well the engine matched predictions and did it produce thrust. It will probably take some time to reduce the data. Don't they have enough trajectory data to know that already? If it accelerated on its own, it produced thrust (though I guess it could also produce thrust without accelerating, if it was insufficient to compensate for drag). |

Looks good--
"It's been a great, record-breaking day," said Larry Huebner, NASA Langley Research Center's Hyper-X propulsion lead. "We achieved positive acceleration of the vehicle while we were climbing, and maintained outstanding vehicle control. This was a world-record speed for air-breathing flight," Huebner said.
