Default Story Musgrave

I just watched a show on UK history regarding the Space Shuttle Columbia
disaster and I didn't learn much that I don't know already. However in an
interview, Story Musgrave stated that the shutle was 5 - 10 times less safe
than the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft that flew before but what really
surprised me was his comment that he only flew the shuttle as it was his
only way of getting into space.

Okay, it's obvious that it was NASA's only manned way to orbit, yet it
seemed quite damning to me that the most experienced shuttle astronaut
should say that, even considering the shuttles past record.

Comments anyone?
