Default 2012

I'm interested in the great conjunction that is supposed to occur around
the winter solstice of 2012.

This is when the sun is to conjunct the plane of the Milky Way for the
first time in 26,000 years. I think it very interesting that the Mayans
are saying this will be the birth of the "fifth" sun. "Fifth" implies
that a civilization advanced enough to mark the progression of the skies
through 26,000 year cycles has existed for at least 104,000 years.

Now, I don't necessarily ascribe to the "doom and gloom" group, but
wouldn't our chances of collision with other-worldly objects increase as
we approach the plane of the galaxy?

K-
