Default newbie question

I will be receiving a new telescope in a few days. Are there any
groups or books or web sites that are geared towards the newbie. Most I
have found are fairly advanced and set for experienced users with large
expensive telescopes.

If there are site or books similar to Astronomy for dummies or
such please let me know. We are getting a lower priced meade and will be
using it in Eastern washington well away from any cities. As long as the
dust settles it is very clear.

thank you
Ken

"Nigh****ch" and "Turn Left at Orion" are the two books I would start with.
If you're getting a Dept. store model Meade, I suggest you return it until
you have read more, and then get a telescope that will really work for you.

Hi there. You posted:

Well, for finding various deep-sky objects, I might recommend "Turn Left at
Orion", by G. Consolmagno and D. Davis (available through Sky Publishing).
You may also need a star atlas and a planisphere (also available from Sky
Publishing). Clear skies to you.
