Except for somebody feeding that into Google Translate repeatedly to
get strange results, I haven't been able to find out where in the Dead
Sea Scrolls it supposedly came from by a web search.

If it was in the Dead Sea Scrolls, I suspect that Erich von Daniken
would have picked it up...

Apparently a "kikkar" is what is known in the Bible as a talent; I did
find _that_ out.

I'm with Pat. That creeped me out. I don't like to see religion in my
engineering details. Of course, this could have been meant to be a
tongue in cheek reference to how the proponents of solids cling to them
like a religion, despite their obvious flaws.

I've got a book on the Dead Sea Scrolls, and I couldn't find that quote
anywhere in there.
