Default Winter on Heartbreak Ridge!

51F and raining fairly steadily here in Tigard. Gusty southwesterly winds. Another huge storm system is hitting the west coast, all the way down into California.

The greatest nativity holiday of all is approaching now: My Birthday! Kim will help me celebrate it this year!

A nice calm day (no wind). Not raining now, but the ground is still wet, there are clouds in the sky, and the threat of more showers continues. 54F here in Tigard at 1:15 PM, but it is forecast to go higher. It may be officially the first day of winter, but here it feels like spring is coming.

There is a filbert (hazelnut) tree right where I get off the bus here at the library. If only I could remember to carry a nut cracker!

Where I am staying is on the ridge of the Tualatin Mountains running just west of downtown Portland. The locals just call them the West Hills. The old money lives in the hills. Where I am is at the summit of a pass, and on the slopes of Mt. Sylvania, near the top of which sits Portland Community College. The climate is markedly colder up there than in Portland itself.. The cold east wind out of the Columbia River Gorge hits with full force. The ice we got a couple weeks ago lasted on the ground up there almost a week! But there is a beautiful view of Mt. Hood.

Now the weather is turning colder again and talk of snow is back in the forecasts. Only 44F here in Tigard today, and expected low tonight of 29F! Tigard is down in the valley just to the west. I hear the sound of ice pellets coming down now!

Don't forget, No. 2 Ducks vs. Beavers tonight at 5:00 PST on ABC!

AA Mt.Hood must have a LOOKOut near its peak. If M&M does not make it big I have a plan. I park t the lookout.dress like an artist, and paint pictures and sell them to the people to see the view. No need to drive. I will call myself The mountain man of Hood. I will tell them if they dont buy I jump. TreBert

82 degs f. in Valley ( Sherman Oaks, today, harassed on the streets last night), shorts, hot, very hot, might as well get out the tanning oil.

Really, this is not global warming, I spent multiple Christmas days as a child, here in the LA Valley when the temps were over 80 degs.

I guess I'll watch snow on TV or the internet?

AA Hood is big UK name. The battleship Hood blew sky high when hit by only two shells. One hit its rudder, and other went down its smoke stake I like the story of the old battleship The Rose. How it sunk just getting out of the harbor. Hood bad luck. Rose bad thinking. TreBert

I don't know where I would get one. You could probably print one off the web as easily as I could. Around the ceiling of the Vista House there are faces of Indians, but no one has figured out yet who they were.

Sun through clouds and calm and 49F here in Tigard on "Boxing Day". Was downtown Portland earlier and not many people out. Buses not crowded.

Hope you all had a good Christmas. Hope your stockings will filled with goodies, except for Hagar, who probably got his annual lump of coal.

There were some UFO sightings in Newberg, Oregon, which is just a little southwest of us here in Tigard. Maybe it was just Santa!
