The big storm that was supposed to hit us Thursday missed us completely. Just a little SW wind kicked up but no rain. Too bad about California.

Clear blue skies, sunny, 52F, and east wind here in Tigard as of 2:00 PM.

I guess that storm last Thursday caused more damage than I thought here in Portland. While there was no rain, that SW wind blew down trees causing power outages, and disrupted MAX Train service for a couple hours. The MAX runs on electricity. Also debris was blown onto its tracks. Debris even blew off of tall buildings in downtown Portland closing down the transit mall for a while.

Oregon Duck quarterback Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy Saturday night. Now come the national championship playoffs! Go Ducks!

Cloudy but dry, fairly calm, and 48F here in Tigard as of 1:15 PM. Rain possible later.

This library also sells books. It is interesting how any book about science quickly sells off their bookshelf of books for sale. Interesting how libraries mostly fill their shelves with books on fluff, yet the more meaty books seem to be the ones that sell the fastest.

Had some trouble accessing the Internet yesterday. Somebody said that it was because so many people are doing their Christmas shopping online now, that it is bogging down the Internet! Hope things go better today.

wet today from 48% chance some hours to 18% other hours, nothing like a few days ago, that was a big storm.

It was a hurricane, or the version we get in LA, which is small because of land restrictions on globalcurrents.

but high winds, some 60 mph, and I know Oregon got some high winds as well as the BAY AREA, some gusts up to 80 mph -- still strong for anyone.

Where I am staying is on the ridge of the Tualatin Mountains running just west of downtown Portland. The locals just call them the West Hills. The old money lives in the hills. The cold east wind out of the Columbia River Gorge hits with full force. The ice we got a couple weeks ago lasted on the ground up there almost a week! But there is a beautiful view of Mt. Hood.

Now the weather is turning colder again and talk of snow is back in the forecasts. Only 44F here in Tigard today, and expected low tonight of 29F! Tigard is down in the valley just to the west. I hear the sound of ice pellets coming down now!

Don't forget, No. 2 Ducks vs. Beavers tonight at 5:00 PST on ABC!

had a downpour about 10 pm - 1 am, strong. and then woke up to sunshine, all wetty streets, reflecting in the Sun --- how GLORIOUS.

It was a type of 'washer rain' so hard it got into the nooks and crannies of out dirty city and washed it goooood!

All those California transplants up here in Hillsboro walk around in shorts all year around, even in the middle of January when it is below 20F! Well, they only have to make it from their Cadi to the store.

Bert, there in LA, don't you realize that the insides of your lungs are turning just as black as that rag?

Cloudy and calm here in Tigard today. 48F and misty light rain as of 3:15 PM.

Power lunch with Kim in downtown Portland earlier. Christmas shopping crowds!

Just the normal east wind here has already been clocked at 82 mph this year out at Crown Point where I used to live. No surprise. But the trees get braced for that. When the southwest winds hit at high velocity, the trees aren't braced for that, and more easily blow down. Thus the trouble they had last Thursday with the MAX Trains.

Currently 49F, cloudy and raining slightly here in Cedar Mill today.

Not many computers being used here today. I guess a lot of people got computers of their own for Christmas last year.

Fact is I just posted his thoughts on compression. TreBert

Hi Bert,

Yes, I should be getting a laptop soon. There a a lot of places nearby like Starbucks and McDonald's where I can post for free on WiFi. But I also like this beautiful Tigard Library!

Today a toasty 52F here in Tigard with sun through clouds and scattered showers.

Buses are very unpredictable now because of all the Christmas shoppers. Have you filled your Christmas present list yet? What foolishness! Bah humbug!
