Where I am staying is on the ridge of the Tualatin Mountains running just west of downtown Portland. The locals just call them the West Hills. The old money lives in the hills. Where I am is at the summit of a pass, and on the slopes of Mt. Sylvania, near the top of which sits Portland Community College. The climate is markedly colder up there than in Portland itself. The cold east wind out of the Columbia River Gorge hits with full force. The ice we got a couple weeks ago lasted on the ground up there almost a week! But there is a beautiful view of Mt. Hood.

Now the weather is turning colder again and talk of snow is back in the forecasts. Only 44F here in Tigard today, and expected low tonight of 29F! Tigard is down in the valley just to the west. I hear the sound of ice pellets coming down now!

Don't forget, No. 2 Ducks vs. Beavers tonight at 5:00 PST on ABC!

Bert. I just had a GREAT IDEA! You should move in with AA!
You guys could split the bills and live large. Since you have a vehicle,
no more driving those hush-puppies for AA!

It's a win-win.

No need to thank me. By nature I am all about making things work.

I am 100% sure AA will agree. After all, you guys are like brothers.
The fact that both of you are alcoholics will work out fine.
With all the leftover money you two will have, you can practically be
swimming in beer and liquor.

This is going to be amazing!

Good times!

How about if I moved in with YOU, Harlow? I'm sure you have better accommodations than I, and you need someone to help with shoveling all that snow!

I'm sure there are some free clinics in yours area. Might be best to have them check you out. The place I've been going, Old Town Clinic, is nearly free. And if you don't have any money to pay them, you don't have to worry about it.

last visits to free clinics, both Berkeley city ( up north) and USC medical county, in down town LA, both physically hurt me be improper procedures. After complainng they said, your white get out. Not good to be white and an orphan in Ameirca at this time.

felt like I would die, twice, in the last week and a half. The Lib system I go to keeps its 55-68 deg, even when it is 50 deg outside. When I was at Cal, the Bancroft ( secured) lib for staff, and students was kept at 70+ deg., and they have rare books. Computers can run at 98+ F. deg and still work. So it is the 1%er that love the cold. Everyday, people bring blankets and jackets and sweaters to keep warm -- the rich love to abuse the environment, it takes energy and that takes CO2 into our atmosphere for a few rich haters. People are scared because they say we have no control, the central gov, downtown control the air conditioning.

Our world is really out of control.
