Default Orbs of Heaven victorian Astronomy book FA

The Orbs of Heaven or The Planetary & Stellar Worlds ,A Popular
Exposition of The great Discoveries and Theories of Modern Astronomy by
O M Mitchell A.M. Undated but certainly 1890s or earlier.Original
owners inscription,otherwise VGC.305 pages.
This is a most unusual vintage book on Astronomy,with some lovely line
illustrations,and a good number of colour,or more correctly blue &
white plates.Made up of a series of lectures on various aspects of
astronomy and it's history.The blue plates are particularly
beautiful,period illustrations.

Some headings:- Stabiltiy of the Planetary System /Theories for the
explanation of the motion of the heavenly bodies /Discovery of new
planets /The Cometary world /Motions & revolutions of the fixed stars
/Appendix on : Telescopes/Observatories /Copernicus & Galileo /Kepler
/Ancient and modern ideas on the system of the world etc
