Peter Jenniskens E-mail: Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! I missed it. :-( I once observed a fireball just after sunset. It was pure dumb luck. I was driving home and noticed that all of a sudden, the light had a greenish cast to it. I looked up and a green fireball was shooting across the sky. It was in the FOV through my car window. As it approached the horizon, it burst into three pieces. Left a smoke trail that hung in the sky for a few minutes. Would have been much nicer had I been outside with a full view, but no complaints. Would love to see another one. Alan |

No, but with looking up at the stars at night and watching the weather during the day (I fly too, so I'm fairly weather obsessed) I figure I up my odds. Shawn |

After thousands of hours of observing the sky at night and watching sunrises and sunsets, I see a great fireball while driving and was lucky to do so. I would have been home and parked in my garage if I had left work two minutes earlier. Even as I watched it, I remember thinking about how thankful I was for my good fortune. What a sight it would have been at night. Probably would have jumped out of my shoes. Alan |

However, details of the resulting meteorite are at http://www.cloudbait.com/science/bermet.html . The meteorite landed within 100 feet of three people! _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com |
