Ummm ...
1) If I did send you a private email, I don't recall it nor any particular reason for it. But I do so from time to time. You did send me a private Email and I post that information previously. I also posted the fact that it had bounced twice. 2) The email address I use here ) is a valid email address. If you concluded otherwise, there must have been a malfunction at Yahoo. As I said originally, I gave it two tries. I did so. Didn't work twice... I never attempt to change anyone's attitude. But I sometimes choose to share personal data privately so as not to offend. On the other hand, sending "personal" data means that only one side of the issue will be heard. Please retry the address at Yahoo. If it does not work again, let me know and I will provide you another. Phil I tried it twice. Jon |

I sent a msg there myself and it does work now. Phil |

Jon,
I refrain from making judgements about the quality of other peoples lives, there is no way to know what their inner experiences are and whether they are more or less satisfying than anything I might have to offer. When tempted, I remember the old song, "A Satisfied Mind." I agree. Here's a guy trying to pass something on-give people an opportunity to peer into the realm of astronomy. In my small community, I don't know of anyone that owns a telescope besides me-and not the department store types that never get used. Starlord seems committed in sharing his knowledge of the cosmos and telescope use-no harm there. I can't help but admire what seems to be selfless use of Dennis' time in that it might simply sate a passerby's curiosity for once and for all an answer to the question "I wonder what it's like to look up in a telescope?", or for that matter, inspire others to take up the hobby. Setting up for 6+ years takes committment, not to mention the time he spent doing this in Hawaii. It would be interesting to hear what Mr. Merchant has to say and it is possible that a skilled negotiator could achieve a resolution to this problem that was a win-win situation for both parties. Jon Isaacs Exactly. You've got Foster's Freeze & Babylon 8-ice cream & the heavens-what more do you need? Dennis, I don't know how well you know the owner, but it seems you've done business with him previously. Has he ever come to your set-up, looked through the scope? That may be a lost cause, considering the circumstances, but maybe not. I may be wrong, but maybe a little cooling off period (even a short one) might be helpful. Best of luck, and hope that things work out. Off topic: Starlord, thanks again for the information about sonotubes... Kerry across the country (well, almost...S.E. I've watched and read the line of postings and made sure not to add to
it. But I have talked to some of the local people that are "In the Know", and it turns out that they know the owner all to well, that if you could believe him he OWNS all of Rosamond. They used the term "Bag of Wind" as they told me not to use their names. This makes me think ( that's trouble ) that they have had run in's with him on some level. In the past I used to buy a meal or coffee in the evening there, so he's gotten money from me in the past. Now that same money will go across the street to the ARCO Am-Pm mart and I can use the restroom there too. Plus with the e-mail that I've printed out and will take with me, from my county rep., Kern County owns the sidewalks, not him. As for going up, the weather will say yes or no, high winds I stay home, low or no winds I go. on the night of 06/12/04 -- Dragons Must Fly when Thread's in the Sky www.starlords.org "kowen" wrote in message m...
