Without trying to stir up an issue, it depends on what your NEEDS are...

As they say, bells are NEVER made of wood... For vibration damping, wood is
about as good as it gets...

But there ARE some advantages to metal tripods. And there are some very
good ones on the market...

Again, it depends entirely on your NEEDS...

Personally, where possible, I prefer wood...

Depends on the application. I use both, but prefer wood when
