Hello everyone. The clouds finally broke and I got some new shots. Seems
like forever that it has been cloudy. Clear Skyz, LA |

With the temps of late (winter finally arrived here) I've not been out
to the 10" (that's the scope with the Daystar on it) to view. I was wondering what the sun was up to. That Blocks of Definition image sure has definition! Rick LA wrote: Hello everyone. Thanks Rick. I was wondering whether the sun would ever come out again here
too. It did for a few days and then got clouded over again. Clear Skyz, LA ![]() "Rick Johnson" wrote in message ... I just checked the forecast for my rented camp at Indian Lake NY and the NOAA warning says -35F wind-chill and notes that exposed flesh will freeze in minutes and un-protected exposure will "quickly lead to death"...... which is not good for observing! ![]() I also just checked our web weather station up at Kopernik and it sez that the wind-chill is -18F and the snow plow just went by..... so I don't think I'm going up to look at the moon........ ![]() George N PS I knew I should have gotten WSP tickets! |

Last time I was imaging the camera was at -35C and drawing only 4% current to keep that temp. That means the temp before wind chill was about -31C. Weather guy on TV said the wind chill was -65F and expected to hit -80F. That didn't even generate a wind chill warning here, happens all the time so nothing to warn about. Most winters hit -40 either C or F and that's not wind chill! So far we haven't hit that this year. It is only -18F as I write this with 30 MPH winds. Don't know what that makes the wind chill. I've got to go out and blow .6 miles of drive in this yet today as we finally got snow last night -- before the bottom fell out of the thermometer. Waiting for the temp to hit the -10F it is supposed to reach. Doubt it will however. I'll have to start in an hour to finish before dark. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. So far there's only been two clear nights in January where I live and one was the full moon. We also had a few hours of daytime clear weather but alas I didn't bring my PST to work since I had not expected a chance to view the sun. George N |
