Dear Friends,
I have been working on major project these last three months, a web article entitled "The US-A program (Radar Ocean Reconnaissance Satellites - RORSAT) and radio observations thereof". It is now finished to the degree where I can "publish" it. I have tried to cover the purpose, design, flight history and environmental pollution of various kinds produced by this controversial Soviet space program. It lasted almost 30 years. I think it reflected much of the thinking from the 50's and 60's: enthusiasm for nuclear power as well as extreme Cold War logic. I find it truly fascinating despite, or maybe because of, all this. I am also surprised how much material has been released after the end of the Cold War about this program. Some is still shrouded in the "fog of history". Some technical details are obscure, for example how the solid rocket motor system that raised the reactor to storage orbit was configured. All help on that and other obscurities is invited and appreciated. * Go to my web site http://www.svengrahn.pp.se * Click on "What's new?" * Select entry for 11 April 2004 Best Wishes Sven Grahn |
