Hi all,
Seeing was reasonably good before this morning's lunnar occultation of Saturn. Here's a work-in-progress result from before the event... [C-14 @ f/33, Lumenera SKYnyx 2-0M, Astronomik LRGB - in this case the L channel is an average of the R & G channels. Seeing 7/10, transparency 7-8/10] http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/saturn/...52-41_RGBa.jpg Imaging the occultation itself was always going to be a tricky affair due to the difference in brightness between Saturn and the Moon. As such I decided to go for a beauty (rather than scientific) shot and create the following composite. All components were imaged between 01:00 and 03:00. The most important shot was a 10s (@60fps) AVI capture showing the position of a properly exposed Saturn against a burnt out Moon. All images were taken at f/11. http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/occulta...single_800.jpg -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk |
