LRGB exposure (20:10:10:15 minutes color binned 2x2) with STL-1301E camera
thru a 20" F/8.1 OGS RC Cass. Here's a link (http://www.kopernik.org/images/archive/m74.htm) to a page with the same image plus images of M-74 and supernovae SN 2002ap and SN 2003gd. These images were taken with my ST-9E camera and both were apparently on a night of better seeing (or I did something else better back then). George N |

Much better color than I got in my attempt. My color processing stinks. Better seeing too. Like those HII regions. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

I'm generally not to good at getting color balance. Also, my old shots with this galaxy using my ST-9 have more resolution. I don't remember if I was using an AO-7 at the time, but I suspect it's just a seeing effect. George N |

Ah, yes the Phantom Galaxy. I have seen this barely with the naked eye. Barely making out a galaxy
with arms. Now I see what I was missing... Nice... |

One of these days I've got to observe this galaxy with a really big scope - like a 30 inch Dob or similar. George N PS: I only thing of getting a 30-inch for a minute or two before realizing that I'm nuts! ![]() |
