Default What is that thing in Lunar Prospector's website?

Take a look at http://lunar.arc.nasa.gov/

See the image in the circle. Does anybody know what area of the moon is
this? Why is NASA highlighting using this rather unusual image with no
further comments?

I'd say they were looking for Iraq's WMD, and were seeking additional
funding.

OR, maybe it will resolve over time to a sleigh and eight tiny
reindeer...

It is odd, isn't it...

Note the background.

I interpret this logo to mean that LP is intended to give us
high-resolution images of what was formerly vague and indistinct
regions.

If this is the intent of the logo, apparently it is not as obvious as
they might have thought.
