Default Norwegian newspaper: parts of shuttle wing have fallen off

Chris Bergin (www.nasaspaceflight.com) is warning:

"Ok, I'm being warned a major Norway newspaper is claiming parts of
Discovery's wing have come off

"http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2006/12/12/485841.html - headline
"Discovery damaged"

"This is NOT, repeat NOT true. They are getting confused by the ET umbilical
door images (NO CONCERN) being bad.

"If you're in Norway, send e-mails to the paper and get this crap pulled
down."

Translation of the story:

"The spaceshuttle Discovery has docked to the spacestation, but is probably
dammaged."

"Dammaged spaceshuttle. NASA has discovered what might be a dammage to the
spaceshuttles wing. The outer tiles in the heat-shield are black. On immages
a white spot is also visible. That might indicate that something has fallen
off the wing. Nasa are later to day to decide if the dammage to "Discovery"
is so big that it has to be repaired, Reuters reports "......

Erik

This is basically true. Some of the tiles are probably chipped.
However, calling the chip "parts" is a pretty extremist interpretation.
I'd call an elevon or landing gear door a "part".
