Default Binoculars for astronomy?

Anyone have some suggestions for astronomical binoculars?

I would like to get a decent pair for my kids (ages 6 and 9) to look at
start with when we camp.

As such, I've been thinking something like the Meade 9x63. I don't
think kids that small can hold anything larger steady enough to actually
see anything....

Something like the Celestron Skymaster would be nice, but I've never
used tripod-mounted binoculars so I'm not sure how useful those might
be. The logistics of looking up with a tripod mount just baffle me....

And 45 degree eyepieces just aren't available for binocs that cheap...
