I read on an earlier post that there is video available of the ascent of
Soyuz from the view of inside the craft looking at the crew. Can anyone point me to that link? Thank you very much. DB |

Kind of interesting to watch the cosmonaut in the center couch using the "Swizzle Stick" to push buttons and then stow under his arm the same way every time so he can ensure he can find it the next time he needs it. Since the way the windows are arranged relative to the crew's head doesn't seem to allow one to see out, I wonder if a few strategically arranged mirrors might be on board to enable to the crew to look out while in their couchs. Blue skies John If you haven't already, watch one of the Soyuz launches in real-time -- including prelaunch activities. If they aren't streamed on NASA TV, there can be found streaming off some ..ru news sites. They are really cool to watch not only because the Russians have different "approaches" to things, but they also allow the media to get more "intimate" and close to activities (compared to NASA). The media even shows them doing their traditions, which I've never really seen NASA TV do of shuttle launches. (Only NASA tradition I know of though is the playing of one hand of poker between the mission commander and mission control, along with the breakfast thing.) Highlights for the Ruskies include: - Signing the door of their dormatory before they leave - Blessing by a priest dude - Friends and family being right there on the pad as they get into the elevator to go to the top - Cosmonaut's ****ing on one of the wheels of the bus that drives them out to the pad. This tradition is said to have been started by Yuri Gagarin, but I think it was probably started by Laika (first dog in space)! :-) |
