Default Floating to Orbit

I have limited math skills at the moment so I’ve yet to figure out all the particulars. Can anyone here tell me if something like this could work? Imagine a super pressure balloon aerodynamically shaped for lift off of the upper atmosphere. If one were to attach a propulsive device capable of shooting the lifting gas from the balloon out at an extremely high velocity could the craft attain orbit? What are the limitations/road blocks to such a system?
