Default Shuttle Struck By Lightning Hmmmm

Ben Franklin knew the highest structure has the best chance to get hit.
The shuttle is a sitting duck for a lightning strike;. They do have a
Ben Franklin lightning rod, to conduct the current to the ground, but
when you are talking 2 million volts or more its best to keep in mind
anything can happen. I can think of ways to have the shuttle safer
when parked for days waiting for a good time to fly,but it would take
money out of the Mafia's deep pockets;. Bert

Well Beeeert, the answer is staring you in the face:
Fly a bunch of kites in a perimeter around the shuttle.
I'll get my wife to hold the string of one of them, that way, if lightning
does strike, we'll save the Shuttle.

Hagar (the horrible) I was thinking of metal balloons. They do use them
here in Florida to save the high electric lines. Bert
