Nicely done. Looks like I haven't been looking close enough at M31.
Thanks for the webpage incorporated link to the online copy of Hodge's
Atlas. Is there an index that says what each Hodge region might be -
o.c., glob, dark cloud area, etc. - Canopus56

there's a pretty thorough documentation section on the Hodge page

http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/level...as/frames.html

the particular "callout regions" on the map pages have a designator such as
"Axxx", "Cxxx" or 'Gxxx" or "Dxxx"

those denote: Stellar Associations, Open Star Clusters, Globular Star
Clusters and Dust Clouds respectively

that information is is Table 4 of the dox

use the "NEXT" command to take you to Table 4 for the definitions of the
markers on the plates

Thanks Richard, now I've got it. Tables A, B, C and D are labelled by
types. Table 4 gives the chart coding. - Canopus56
