Default Trippensee Planetarium

(Hi I tried on a different newsgroup, but was referred here.)

Hello, I have a few questions on a Trippensee Planetarium I have recently
acquired. I would like to restore it so it looks nice, and works well. Is it
possible to find replacement parts for these? I need the earth more than
anything. Venus and the moon need repainted. Is the moon solid white, or
half white, half black? My base is broke, but I think I have all the pieces
to get it back together. Also, what is in the little circle on the arm. Mine
is cloudy and opaque.

The base and the arm are a somewhat faded out brownish color. Is that right,
or were they painted something else?

Last for now, How can I tell it's approximate age? I am guessing maybe it
was made in the 60's or 70's, but see no real indicators on when it was
built.

Thanks for any help!

Hi again,

Thanks for the site. I was hoping more for buying individual pieces though,
not the whole thing. I will try to look at the Google sites some more and
find something.

Q: I am missing the Sun on my Trippensee Planetarium and would like to know
if you can sell me a replacement.

A: We do not sell spare parts, but Science First, which bought the
Trippensee Planetarium Company does. Replacement parts are available for
their current line as well as for older H and S models. For more
information, contact them.

Actually IIRC you sent him to "sci.astro.amature". Fortunately he had
the sense to correct the spelling.
