Can anyone confirm the threads on the top plate of a LX200/LX90 tripod
? The centre bolt could be a 1/2" Whitworth, and the outer 6 holes could be 5/16" whitworths ? Cheers |

Your sizes are correct, the thread is UNC, same number of TPI as Whitworth
different pitch. Regards Azz "dylan" wrote in message ups.com... Can anyone confirm the threads on the top plate of a LX200/LX90 tripod ? The centre bolt could be a 1/2" Whitworth, and the outer 6 holes could be 5/16" whitworths ? Cheers |

If it is 1/2" dia - and I have no way of knowing otherwise - and the scope is made in the USA it is most likely to be 13 TPI UNC form (60°). The 5/16 would be 18 TPI. 'pitch' is simply the reciprocal of the TPIi. What Azz was trying to say is that the thread form is different - Whitworth is 55°. It so happens that the UNC series _generally_ have the same TPI as the Whitworth series, 1/2" is one of the few exceptions, Whitworth is 12. JG |
