Map of the Universe

I can remember reading somewhere that the universe (or some part of it) was
mapped and the resulting "picture" they had was human-like. I think I heard
that two men did this, I can't remember their names.

Does anyone know of this or where I might get a picture of their map?

I have tried google, to no avail.
