I'm looking for some binoculars for my 7 1/2 year old daughter and these
two have caught my attention so far. Although she's showing signs of an interest in astronomy, I'm still interested in hedging a bit, therefore I'll forego the Fujinons for now. :-) The Celestron UpClose and Meade TravelView 7x35s seem to be very similar, with the Meades holding the advantage of 5 oz less weight, while the Celestrons have a wider field, the No Fault warranty (which may or may not be a factor with such inexpensive binocs) and a generally lower street price. An AstroMart review of the Celestrons confirms what I suspected: They're apparently a good deal for the money, but just don't try to make them what they're not. My daughter can (seemingly) handle the 25 oz weight of my 8x40 Pros without trouble, but lighter is better. Any opinions or other models advised? Thanks. -- ---- Len Philpot -------- ------- ------------- http://members.cox.net/lenphilpot/ |
