Default The Indian "red" rain = extraterrestrial cells?

Don't laugh. I read this in a real (as opposed to silly) science
magazine. A red rain that fell in India is being touted by a handful
of scientists as "cells" that came from outer space. Another group
thinks a small swarm of tiny meteors decimated a flock of birds
and the red stuff is their blood. They just can't let "panspermia"
die.
