Or good Reasons to stay inside!

No viewing was done, why? friday a light rain passed threw the area but it
never cleared up and it got cold.
Saturday it stayed the same, with the west end and palmdale getting more
rain than out here, but over night
we did get rain, woke up to 28F temps and the old battlecar covered in ICE.
By last night the sky was clear,
BUT the wind, while light was like a knife made of ice cutting right threw
you.

Today is monday, it's clear, no wind, but it was 20F at 6am, so IF it stays
at lest clear and windless, there's a
slight chance I might get up there tonight, but I'll dig out my cold gear
first.

I went out back and tried it Sunday night for an hour or so on Saturn
and M42 after cleaning up the 10" for the ROTC party at my house this
coming Wednesday night.

Then, I got up again this am for Jupiter and M57. Yes, very cold, but
the shed stops the wind, at least.

Ever since the two spider bites last year spring and the following sinckness
and such, I find myself not able to take the cold as I use to be able too.
Now on nights I go out and it's cold, I'll have two shirts and two jackets
on.

Today has turned into a partly cloudy day, with a slight gusty wind that is
still very cold.

Dont feel bad. When I was a kid I had no problem with the
cold. And in upstate NY, -10F was no big deal.
Now as an adult, and having worked outside in the summers
most of my work life got me used to 90F - 100F (and near
100% humidity) I now can no longer deal with it so well.

And it has been cold around here recently too....

If you don't have an allergy to nuts, might I suggest fortifying
yourself with some brazil nuts.

I cheat with the cold. In my observashedatory, I keep a propane
heater. It only offers a few thousand BTU's, but it keeps the feet and
hands warm. I know it costs me on the still nights (and I leave it off
most times then), but on the crazy windy nights, it makes the
difference of going out or staying in.

51 years old Saturday night, so I need to take care, too.

I'm going to give it a shot tonight and see if I can see the Cone
Nebula. It keeps eluding me. Getting pretty good at finding the
Christmas Tree Cluster, though! For the life of me, you need a pretty
good imagination to see a tree there. Must be me!

I've worked outside most of my life, and the 100F+ never bothered me at all
and the cold I could at lest stand as long as it wasn't to windy. But that
first spider bite last year took me down and hard too, I forced myself to do
my daily chores, but many times after I did something I would be wiped out.
Then just as I was starting to get over it all, the 2nd one got me, in bed
no less, and that one was just on top of my collor bone/brest plate, so
instead of getting into the blood stream and kicking my rear end, it formed
a big abcess which the doc had to open, drain, and for two months I had to
change dressings every day.

Now the cold gets into me and I just have to at lest keep the trailer near
the 70F mark and that's costly now. This next summer when the winter gear is
on close out sales, I'll have to see about a new jacket and such, I know
I'll be getting the hooded swert shirt from the astronomy net gift shop.
