A couple of interesting short articles in the current BAA Journal [2006 Feb - vol 116 #1] http://www.britastro.org/journal/
"Chromospheric darkening around active areas" by Eric Strach [UK] via 0.6A Daystar filter and "Zeeman effect via a spectroscope" by Fred Veio and Leonard Higgins via homebuilt hi-res solar spectroscope. The former records the little reported changes around active spots near the limb and the latter observing the splitting of spectral line over sunspots due to strong magnetic fields. Great stuff from amateurs;-) Nytecam 51N 0.1W |
