Default Nexstar 8 hand controller contrast

Hello - the LCD display on my hand controller to my Nexstar 8 has almost
completely lost all contrast. i have looked in the handbook and
inspected the menu heirarchy and there seems to be no contrast
adjustment. anyone had this problem ? is there any quick fix?

Chris
