Why did I bother last night ? Dragged out the 10" Dob , set up , tried
Saturn but it was just mush in the low mist and haze. Mars was not good
either. I checked the collimation and it was miles off so I tried to re-set
it with a laser. Trouble was I'd run out of adjustment on the secondary
spider so had to file out the slots a touch. Fumbled around in the dark and
dropped the only washer, went to the shed for the metal detector and fell
over the fork, found the washer and got everything reassembled. Collimated
the beast and slewed back to Mars, not good, very mushy due to ice and fog.
I thought "one last go at Saturn" and BANG on comes a new 1000W spotlight
over the road.....
