Just out, NASA TM-2005-214014, December 2005
"Materials Refining for Solar Array Production on the Moon" This report was originally a white paper on a process sequence for a proposed materials-processing test. The test never got beyond the conceptual design stage, but I presented the information at couple of workshops. Then with some renewed interest in oxygen production on the moon, I revised the process sequence to focus on oxygen production (with silicon and metals as a byproduct) instead of silicon and metal production, for publication in a technical journal. However, I thought there may still be some interest in the concept of lunar refining of the materials to make solar arrays, so I decided to make the original version available as a TM, and here it is. It should be available as a pdf on the NASA Glenn technical report server soon http://gltrs.grc.nasa.gov/ but if anybody would like an actual printed copy, send me an email with your address. -- Geoffrey A.
