Or deeds to land on the Moon...
A cousin asked me if it was worth £20 for a "an acre" of Moon! Now I thought I'd have butchers at the website anyway and had to laugh when I read (in regard to the "1984 Moon Treaty"): "We feel that the non ratification of the Moon Treaty is a good thing. If it had been ratified and oil was found on the Moon; any company would by law be prohibited from mining it. Surely, that is not in the public's interest. (and if you find it on your property... well congratulations...you could be very rich!)" OIL?! *rotflmfao* If we found oil on any other body in the Solar System it would surely have much further reaching implications other than some gulible peeps getting rich. Best keep quite though, or Bush might cancel the trip to the Moon if he realises there's no oil there. Kudos to the NASA technician that told him otherwise. ;o) Unless of course he knows of any "Abiotic" oil (http://www.enviroliteracy.org/article.php/1130.html) fields there. ;o) Cheers, Jim |

Wasn't it James Hill who wrote:

It would prove the abiotic theory of oil formation. At the moment the theory that some oil is produced by natural inorganic processes is somewhat speculative, but it's not totally crackpot. It's not totally unreasonable to suppose that suitable inorganic conditions might possibly cause the formation of hydrocarbons and water rather than carbonates and hydrides. On the other hand, the idea that oil might become so expensive in our lifetime that it becomes economic to import it from the Moon is laughable. I hope. -- Mike Williams Gentleman of Leisure |
