Default Highly technical astronomy question....

.....er, not!

Some time ago someone posted a link to a constellations toilet seat
available at Argos. I forwarded it to a friend of mine in the States and
on a recent trip to UK she was disappointed to find that they are no
longer still available. Anyone know where we might find one please?
Luton area would be best, or Leeds/Bradford or Leicester or Warrington
(odd combination of places, I know!). In the meantime I'll have a hunt
online.

TIA

I really believe you deserve each other

If you will excuse me,the dignity of my astronomical heritage is a long
way from your hardware, be it a telescope or a toilet seat.

I'm glad it wasn't beneath your dignity to reply. Thanks for the link.
However, that site only lists Argos as a stockist, and they don't stock
them any more, hence the original question. The other sites listed don't
appear to have them either.

To Holly

Before my astronomical heritage disappears down the toilet of
consumerism where cameras and telescopes and automatic tracking
devices defines what an astronomer is,it once was a noble discipline
with its own self correcting mechanism rely on the sincerity of men.

I do not resent those who use the devices, for they represent the
mechanical side of astronomy but that great hole where intutive
astronomy used to exist no longer appeals to men captivated by novelty
and their tools.

Nobody feels the astronomical loss no more than they feel the value of
what is lost and although opportunity to correct things is now passing
to the lowest common denominator of consumerism where you can buy
yourself into astronomy. It is not the techniocal material itself but
the type of thinking that diluted the nobility to a pretensious
linguistic tinsel with a bit of optics thrown in,this thinking infects
future generations and indeed ours whereas a true and honest
perspective lights up new avenues to consider.

Become a slave to the hardware and software of consumerist cataloguing
and you lose the ability to enjoy and appreciate your participation in
the great cosmological cycles that makes life on the planet and
subsequently your life possible.

Please ignore our resident troll - or kill file him.
A quick Google search seems to show that Argos was the only supplier,
and it isn't in the "Sky and Telescope" 2005 Holiday Catalog - looks as
if the TLA SOL is unusually apt.
You might try http://www.splashdirect.com/ as they offer "cutting edge
toilet seat designs" :-)

I'm well aware that he's a troll (and I have never replied to anything
of his before or since!) but he did actually reply to the question and
sent a link. Other people, including him, can be as rude as they like
but that doesn't mean I have to be, so I thanked him for the link.

Ah, thanks for looking.

That was a new one on me, had to google.

:-) Off to have a look, thanks.

Sorry to follow up my own post (why is that frowned on ?) but I just
thought of trying Ebay.
There's nothing on offer at the moment, but there is a "Wants" section.

Though not the orignal one you sought, this is so cool I want
one.

You could paint the effect on it you wanted after you finish
playing with it.

Very clever

I particularly like the fact that the specs even tell you 'wind speed' and
'wind temperature'

;-)

I assume that they are referring to the warm air drying system :-) but
I'd be nervous about the "hydraulic pressure telescopic" spray.
And I'd love to see the instructions, which are probably straight out of
"2001" http://www.ee.ryerson.ca:8080/~elf/aso/zeroGtoilet.html
