Default Meade LX90 LNT and Digital camera OR Deep Sky Imager

Looking at buying the LX90 8" LNTscope.

I have an exsting canon 350D 8megapixel camera

My question really is;

With the scope, I would like to try tking some astro photographs.

Would I be better to use my digital camera, with the relevant
connection rings

OR

Would I be better with something like this;

Meade Deep Sky Imager - £289
http://www.telescopeplanet.co.uk/Vie...e=PON04K000007

or a cheaper option in this;

Celestron NexImage Solar System Imager - £109
http://www.telescopeplanet.co.uk/Vie...e=PON05H000053

Thanks

Or would something like this be as good;

Philips Toucam Pro II USB Camera
http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...pc=pricerunner

although I do not then get the sofware that I ned for the images,
stacking, etc???

The software is available free.

Capture with K3CCDTools - (1st version is free)

Depends what you'd like to shoot. The 350D's never going to be as good with
Solar system objects (except perhaps larger shots of the moon) as the
Nexstar Solar System Imager (which is basically a Toucam anyway)

The LX90 will probably come with a free Meade LPI (lunar planetary imager)
in which case you don't really need the Toucam or Nexstar Solar System
Imager (until you outgrow the LPI?). Check first if the LPI's thrown in (it
was with my older LX90)

The Meade Deep Sky Imager has colouration issues with Solar System stuff
(tends toward the dirty brown/orange) but isn't bad at the deep sky stuff.
The 350D is also not bad with some of the brighter deep sky stuff.

If the LX90 comes with the LPI I'd be inclined to go for the DSI and get a
piggy back mount for the 350D. Some of the brighter objects are too large a
field of view for the LX90 and 350D to cope with so the 350D with its own
lenses may offer additional benefits to both the DSI and LPI.

Hope this helps

Regards

Chris

hi,

The LX90 probably comes with the LPI, which is a nice cam for planets and moon. If you already
have a 350D, I wouldn't bother with the DSI, unless you need an autoguider. The 350D is a nice
camera for deepsky, make sure you have the remote control (RC-1 for example) to allow longer
than 30s exposures.

Also need to consider the issue of balance with the 300D.

good point. counterbalance is needed with the 300d. I have a 350d which is slightly lighter
than the 300d, but it still needs balancing.

Thanks for the advice guys - much appreciated.

Did not realise there was a chance the the LX90 came with a LPI - so
wil need to look into that before I purchase anything.

Thanks again

Just found out that the LX90 no longer comes with the LPI
unfortunately
