Funny how the mainstream culture has finally realised that Apollo was
truly special. Ten or 15 years ago, no-one would have run such an ad.
It's taken the rest of the world almost 40 years to realise what the
rest of us space nuts always knew.

.... personally I think its one of the major downsides of this modern digital
age - no matter how momentous the event if no color video/film exists
showing what happened then its not relevant and the newer generations cannot
grasp or comprehend it - and grainy extremely low-definition B & W video
does not count!!
And besides if it was really important then there would be a Hollywood movie
about it like *Pearl Harbor* or *Saving Private Ryan* - right??

I began working in TV in about 1973 and getting a set of personal
Plantronics headset was all the rage among the directors and cameramen.
Didn't know they were still around until I began seeing the commercials
a few weeks back.

....Yeah, they're still around. We had them at Ch. 7 in the production
control booth, but engineering and master control had these huge
noise-cancelling Telex jobs because of all the noise from the A/C fans
that kept the VTRs cool. Those things were noisy as hell.
