I observed Mars when it was at the zenith between 2 and 3AM local time
this morning and seeing was about 7/10 with some incredible views at times. I would appreciate if someone observing with a larger scope could confirm my observations: 1. Evidence of a bluish-white northern polar hood. 2. Very bright patch of frost or snow in Solis Lacus area. 3. Southern polar cap is almost gone; reduced to a tiny almost obscure dot. 4. Chryse region was not well defined with no indication of typical white clouds or frost. Could this be due to dust storm in area? 5. Evidence of white clouds in Tharsis region (possibly orographic clouds over volcanoes?) Central meridian at the time was about 65 - 70 degrees. Scope: Orion Apex 127mm Mak with EQ-3 mount and RA drive. Magnification: 205X (7.5mm ED type eyepiece) Tomorrow night the 8" definitely goes out! Thanks for any verifications or comments.
