The STS and Satellite Retrieval

Apparently, some 22 satellites were retrieved for repair by space
shuttles. Others were boosted to higher orbits and some were repaired
in situ.

Does anyone know how much money was saved by the STS having the
capability to retrieve/reboost/repair satellites? If they were
commercial satellites, how much did NASA charge for the service? Did
that capability even begin to offset the high cost of a shuttle flight?
Can anyone supply a link providing documented information on this
topic? TIA.
