For those doing astro and lab spectroscopy work, I have posted several
spectrum pictures taken with my hand-held spectroscope and with my Nikon CoolPix digital camera. All spectra are correctly calibrated against each other in terms of nm. Note the Fraunhoffer absorption lines on the Solar Spectrum. Na, H_{beta}, H_{gamma} and H_{delta} are visible. They are still a little weak, but my small spectroscope has very small resolution. Note also that the only "truly" monochromatic source among these, was the Red Diode Laser, which emits in the vicinity of 660nm. http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/jgal/sp...ope/amici.html on my spectroscopy section: http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/jgal/spectroscope/ Enjoy, PS: The spectrum of the Propane gas burner is actually molecular and these are bands, not lines. If anyone has an explanation on what the actual wavelengths are, please feel free to explain. (Since Propane contains C/O/H(?), and C's and O's ionization energies are relatively high, I would expect these bands to be H related, but I am not sure). -- I. N. For those doing astro and lab spectroscopy work, I have posted several spectrum pictures taken with my hand-held spectroscope and with my Nikon CoolPix digital camera. All spectra are correctly calibrated against each other in terms of nm. There were a couple of mismaches in terms of relative calibration and have been corrected. If you plan to use this page as a ref or save it to disk, please make sure you reload it again. Note the Fraunhoffer absorption lines on the Solar Spectrum.
