Check out the new various movies of multiple simultaneous twisters from
the surface of Mars. The link: http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/galle...20050819a.html (I know dust-devils have been known for some time, but don't miss these new ones, they're pretty neat. BTW, I originally thought this was too O.T. to X-post in sci.astro.seti, but then I thought perhaps the astrobiology folks might like to see them; they might make a good spore propagation transport mechanism, even in such a thin atmosphere. It's like L.A. in the "The Day After Tomorrow", but on Mars :^) Jason H. |

If you want another SETI connection, there's the opening sequence of "Mission to Mars", though that one's a lot bigger :-) -- Remove spam and invalid from address to reply. |

Well done, Jason! Many of us would not have known of these movies but for
your posting the URL. Thanks. Dan Smith "Jason H." wrote in message oups.com... Check out the new various movies of multiple simultaneous twisters from the surface of Mars. They look like frame numbers, but they are wildly out of order. Does that mean that the frames are shown out of order and that, therefore, they have been selected to produce a misleading sequence? I just double-checked all the animated gifs on that page to check your claim. Each gif's frame numbers are monotonically increasing, except where the frame number rolls back over to zero. No frame numbers are "out of order"; some numbers are just skipped. Russ |
