Default Smelly eyepiece

I have a 32mm Meade super plossl which has sat virtually unused on my
guide-scope for months. When I went to use it the other night, I found
it stinks like the inside of a hot water bottle - really strong! I
tried cleaning the rubber eye-cup with a bit of alcohol, but now it
smells like an old hot water bottle and alcohol :-(

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Beats
