Default Images of binary systems

Dear Friends,

I was wondering if anyone here has done any imaging of binary star
systems and, if possible, multi-coloured systems?

I did some imaging last night and a couple of preliminary results (more
due shortly) are the following:

http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Star-Bin-Cyg-Beta.htm
http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Star-Bin-Cyg-31.htm

I am both curious and interested to see how these compare to other
efforts both for my education and technique.

I have to confess that I need to calibrate my CCD camera against a white
reference star so as to make sure the RGB combine step is as accurate as
possible.

Thanks!

Anthony.

Hi Anthony,

Nice work as usual .. I also enjoyed your recent post of the
ISS & Shuttle transiting the sun.

Great shot .. this is one of my all time favorite doubles, and
a regular visit with binoculars (or low magnification scope).

Cheers,
Esmail

Thanks! I have an AP160 now in my arsenal and it helps produce quality
work single-handedly! :-)

It is truly a stunning sight in any optical instrument. I am now
concentrating on coloured binaries and will later include plain
("white") pairs and triples.

Clear skies!

Anthony.

Hi Anthony and great work as usual!
Just in these days I took an Hi-res image of Beta-Cyg (Albireo) with webcam
and IR-cut filter and the colors are very similar to your:
http://www.marcofazzoli.com/danieleg...reo_050801.htm
These are my first shots, but I think webcam are good to record the colors
of the stars.

Thanks!

Anthony.

Thanks for the link. I will take a peek shortly.

I am curious to see how the images will appear if one uses a webcam
(similar to your approach) and/or afocal projection and a digital
camera. Time to do some testing.

Anthony.

Thanks!

Anthony.

Hi Anthony,

I'm not sure quite what your curiosty is asking, but if you're comparing
images with different equipment then here's my image from last year,
with an unmodified webcam and an old 4.5" newt...

Hardly the same league as yours or Daniele's I'm afraid, but may be of
interest.

Cheers,

Ian

Very nice images! And good double-star pictures are hard to come by.

The finest one I've ever seen, by a large margin, is Johannes
Schedler's
picture of Albireo, published in S&T June 2003, page 105.

Hi Tony,

Here is a link of a page which will expand rapidly over the next few
days. I have added delta-Cep just now which also is a real treat.

The link would help ....
http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Star-Binaries.htm
..... doh!!! :-)

This is great, for I now have a reference point to build on.

Thanks!

Anthony.

PS. I will also check my copy of S&T to see how Johannes effort
appears in print.
