Default Loose MPLM clamps?

I noted yesterday that there was some concern from the Astronauts about the
4 inch play in the forward retainer clamps. Could this looseness be anything
to do with the unexpected motion experienced when releasing them at the
start of docked operations? I suppose we won't know if its a problem till
they try to remate the MPLM.
