It was a bit warm last night (lots of noise) and, if I'm honest,
having just left a 40th birthday party, wasn't as finely honed to the task as I'd normally have been ;-) http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/milkyway/mw-20050710.html About an hour too late. I'll try again tonight, now I know what's what. -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk Recent images http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/recent/recent_images.html ** Last update June 24 2005 ** |

Nice picture Pete, but I'm a bit surprised with the glow of Portsmouth : with 5 minutes of exposure, I would have bet that the whole picture would have been orange. If my memory is good, the lights of Portsmouth are terrific, aren't they ? -- Norbert. Two factors Norbert - 1) Portsmouth is off to the right of the picture and 2) Russ Crowman's Gradient Exterminator has recovered what was, in essence the orange blob you describe. Odd effects like green lights are the result. -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk Recent images http://www.digitalsky.org.uk/recent/recent_images.html ** Last update June 24 2005 ** |

BTW - does it record NSgr05? They were a bit noisy and too colourful for my liking Maurice. I think the image scale would not favour picking up NSgr05. If I get another opportunity I'll take a longer fl lens down (or even a scope). The page has now been updated with some rather more *tasteful* shots. -- Pete http://www.digitalsky.org.uk |
