Default Rutan Ass Talking As Usual

We need more personal aviation but the Rutans arent part of the
solution. They are part of the problem.

They purveyed their moldless sandwich designs to the homebuilder when
they were all who would listen. They then pulled out of that market
because there was more money elsewhere and laid down a bunch of
liability horse****. This merely compounded the lie spread by
douchebags like Richard Collins, J.Mac Mclellan, and Budd Davisson
which had everyone convinced that you could not make personal aircraft
for this reason. Motorcycles skudiving, and scuba diving are more
dangerous than small aircraft, but their manufacturers weren't stupid
like the GAMA idiots.

I am not impressed whatsoever by the current space accomplishments of
the Rutans: they haven't yet done half of what the X-15 did by 1965.

Thank you for this completely off topic posting,
the character assassination contained within,
and generally increasing the noise level in
sci.space.policy for no good reason. This posting
has given us a clear idea of how much to value
your contributions to the group.

Gee, you must be feeling the heat. Let me guess you work for one of the big
boys and you are now getting uncomfortable questions like:

How come the SS1 does half what the X-15 did but at one tenth the price.

Or why should we pay your high prices when Rutan's SS2 is a tenth of your
quoted cost?

Or how come Rutan has design aircraft that can fly around the world non-stop,
and your's does not give us the range to fly half that?

You sound like a person who is either an idiot or from a losing competing
company - I bet both!

I think the fellow at this thread's top is talking about what Rutan
said at the ISDC 2005 in Washington recently. Well, I was there; and
I felt powerfully impressed by Rutan's words. Rutan didn't just shoot
off his mouth: he made a case about how bad things are in space
research and development, and he showed graphics slides illustrating
the case he was making. He's evidently been working on this topic for
some time, he's collected his data and put it all together. He didn't
do a rant, basically he presented materials amounting to a good
scholarly paper and I sure hope to see it all in print somewhere. As
is *badly needed.*

I wonder what that fellow at this thread's top has done? As in,
*achievement*? ?? Somehow I don't think he's in Rutan's class.

I think that what ever he has done has been eclipsed by Rutan's work. Most
likely he works for one of the 'big' boys and is seeing Rutan doing things
with 10-100s millions of dollars that his company can't do with billions.

Or it could be something as inane as not liking muttonchops.

I was at ISDC 2005 too. And I agree with you completely. If you find Rutan's statements in print or video please post them. I've been looking everywhere.

I too am looking for a good and complete with graphics version of
Rutan's ISDC 2005 talk. I haven't found it. But I tried Googling
on "Rutan ISDC" and I found some pretty good *reports about* his
talk. Still trying for the real gem, of course.
