One TV report says oil will be very short in 5 years with consequent very
high prices. When the crunch comes I will not be one of the survivors, I will be 67 in five years. My life is almost over. The future human population will be much lower than now and this will protect the planet from us, a planet wide disease. When the human race lives in equilibrium with the ecosystem then this is the best strategy for long term survival. No fossil fuel, no nuclear power, only wood fires at a rate consistant with replacement by growth. Best to use fallen wood. Grow food in temporary clearings in the forest. Eat the fruits of the forest gathered by hand and the meat the romes around on it feet. Hunt with the spear and the bow and limit the family to what nature can support. Death is the great equaliser. We are all equal in death. It comes. To cope with this we teach our children an innocuus religion that teaches of the immortal soul in paradise of the happy hunting ground. This will continue for thousands of years, no knowledge of distant events (outside your village), no long distance travel, only a horse, and not even dreaming of space travel. The stars will become mysterious lights in the sky to aid hunting and navigation. The plants and animals are to eat. We will eat special herbs if we are sick. That is the future of the human race, without concentrated energy. I will not be there, will you? Chris. |
