Broken equatorial mount

To the Group:

I have a friend that has a "1086 Meade 2110 equatorial mount".
While adjusting its "temporary storage location" in his garage,
it tipped over (scope not mounted). The yoke appears to be a
cast metal, and the "pin" portion of it is sheared. Current
production by this manufacturer is significantly different. I
haven't laid my hands on the part yet. Since my hands are waving
furiously, I really should post a picture...

Are replacement parts available? Meade's website doesn't seem
particularly helpful as far as mounts go.

If I can carve a new one, or weld-repair this one with a dowel in
place of the pin... Does anyone else have experience in reworking
these types of mounts? What works, what doesn't, what to watch?

PS: It really *isn't* my mount, and I really didn't break it!
But a friend in need...

The metal is probably cast aluminum so repairs by welding will be a bit
difficult.
Making a pin or bolt will be a better solution if you have the tools to do
so and a complete remaking of the whole part probably even better.

I'm thinking that he should buy a parts telescope. Is there a secondary
market for old busted equipment, as with cameras?

My telescope supplier says that the manufacturer services them.
