![]() From apolloarchive.com, http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/Hi...-67-HC-297.jpg Now, we all know that all the early manned flights had planned to use those modified Gemini (G4C?) suits, but what's the deal with those helmets? They weren't the standard Gemini helmets at all, but something really strange, with those molded, ridged shells on top that almost resemble a Klingon's skull ridge (TNG series). What was the deal with those helmets? Visor protection? I've seen the fotos of Gemini crews boarding the spacecraft in which the crewman doing the EVA wore a blue padded slipcover over his sun visor, but I never could figure _this_ bit out, even after years of browsing the early Apollo training fotos at the JSC archive and at apolloarchive.com... -- "All over, people changing their votes, along with their overcoats; if Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway!" --the clash. __________________________________________________ _________________ Mike Flugennock, flugennock at sinkers dot org Mike Flugennock's Mikey'zine, dubya dubya dubya dot sinkers dot org |

What was the deal with those helmets? Visor protection? The Gemini crews had apparently complained that the visor was prone to being scratched. Hence this quick fix. AFAIK, the visor protection assembly clipped onto a standard G4C helmet. You've blown the secret. Gus, Ed and Roger were really Klingon agents, and instead of NAA sabotaging the ship to murder them, they decided to blow up the ship themselves as a means of advancing to Sto-Vo-Kor by guaranteeing the Block II would come to pass after all.
