Color Mars Images

You can find quite a few images online at www.lyle.org/mars, as many of you
know. If you peruse the images you find that there are sets of images taken
through different filters - same view. You can recompose these in Gimp
(www.gimp.org) and make a pseudo color image. The above-mentioned Mars site
has filter information: I found that the L4, L5, L6 images combined to form
a color image - though the color is approximate and seems a bit blue to me
in the highlights. It's fun to try a couple of times, if nothing else.

I did not have much luck adjusting RGB, so I tried the Y Cb Cr (Lview Pro
graphics software) and it seemed to work better. If the color and
registration were really peaked up this would make a good poster. Dumped in
a "whole lotta" Y and a cup of Cr.

Yeesh....all I did was make it look like Earth.

(Their pic probably looks like Mars. The shadow under the tool fixture
looks like it was cast by a Sun that is farther away somehow.)
